Newtown Depression

What Happened


               Hey Guys! We all know about the depression in Connecticut last week. So I'm here to talk about it.  I am very sad about this massacre. All the kids that died had a life that went on. They had so much to experience in their lives. Plus, all of the kids that were killed were all first graders. I wonder how their parents felt. They must have been crying beyond tears. How would you like it if you lost a family member of yours that was so young and could learn so much. Then their life would end. How would you like that? The victims were shot multiple times. This had beaten Columbine High School. Now Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut had been the worst shooting because of one 20 year old, named Adam Lanza.

  Well if you all know Adam Lanza was the man who shot the 20 kids. He was autistic and 20 years old. He had taken his mother's life at her house, then he had gone to the school. At the school he had shot the door open. First let me tell you a little about him. Adam Lanza was and autistic kid and his mother had taught him how to use to gun. So it wasn't really his fault. Autistic kids have one special ability, but his was killing people apparently. While he was shooting he carried his brother's ID so that he thought he wouldn't get caught. Unfortunetly, his brother was shooting in Hoboken. After the massacre, Adam Lanza had committed suicide probably because he did not want to go to jail.


My Opinion

I think that they should just stop selling guns. When I was on the internet, I found out that there was a Mexican man selling guns on the streets of New York City. This is so bad. Where do people even get these guns from? It is terrible. I don't know why after 9/11 the president or government didn't make a law saying that guns are illegal. Another idea would be atleast put guards or police officers at schools. That would make life so much easier without even having stress. After President Obama's speech, people were touched, but not relieved.  They should do something that will not let this happen or else the United States will be losing innocent victims and other people will be suffering because of there is not a law of no guns.

Honeypot Ants

What is a Honeypot Ant?

     Well what do you think it is? If you don't know it is basically an ant with a big transparent sphere filled with honey on its back. There are around 34 different species of honey pot ants.They are found in Western America, Mexico, Australia, South Africa and New Guinea. They are normally found in the hot dry areas such as the edges of deserts.These ants mostly gorge on desert flowers for the sugary nectar during the rainy seasons. They will also eat small insects. These fantastic ants can be seen in zoos around the world. The best part is that they are edible.!





Nutrition

These ants hold so many nutrients and energy that they have become a favoured food for many other animals including humans. They're so tasty that Australian Aboriginal people like to eat them like candies. Some people say they taste like sweet tarts. Others say they taste like chocalate bars. So you really get the point. Even though honey pot ants are bugs and look disgusting, they make a really good snack. Just because there is no nutrients in this edible animal, it's okay to have a little honey. Got that.

Jumiles!

What is a Jumil ?

       A jumil is a type of insect. An insect that is edible. I know what your thinking. Ewwwwwwww! Who would want to eat a stinking bug? Well, trust me, from people's opinions they are really good with Mexican food. Plus if you eat them alone, they taste like tuty fruity. Jumiles are mainly found in Mexico. A short definition for Jumil is a small stink bug. On the Monday following Day of the Dead, the citizens of Taxco (a city in the state of Guerrero) gather together and hunt for jumiles, which are plentiful. The children race around to see who can stuff their bag first, and the adults look for some too, but mainly they hang out and enjoy the fresh air and pop the occasional live jumil into their mouths. Now that is one sick thing. Anyway, now you know what people do with insects and when they do it.


The Healthy Side
Jumiles have a cinnamon-like odor. They are considered an acquired taste due to their high iodine content, which imparts a bitter, medicinal flavor.  Jumiles are also a good source of tryptophan and the vitamins riboflavin and niacin. As much as digusting this creature might be, it seems to  be very good for you. I think I would like to try it because it looks like a tropical fruit. Plus the cool part is, when you find it, you can immidietly put it in your mouth with taking any internal organs out. To me, It seems just like picking an apple out of a tree.

Guinea Pigs

What is a Guinea Pig

  Well what do you think it is? Its a type of pet that is like the most adorable thing in the world. I have one and he is so obediant. I know what your thinking. They are not pigs from New Guinea. Larger than hamsters, but smaller than rabbits, guinea pigs can weigh a couple of pounds and generally live for five to seven years. The three most common breeds of guinea pig are the Smooth-Coated, with short, glossy fur; the Abyssinian, whose hair grows in fluffy tufts all over the body, and the Peruvian, with long, silky hair that flows to the ground. I have a short haired guinea pig which I think are the cutest of them all.

As you all know my guinea pig, Snikerz, is a short-haired guinea pig. He is in love with green peppers and can eat a whole in a half and hour. He runs substantially in his cage in the morning when I come downstairs. When he sees me he would start to jump and make noises saying, "Take me! I want you to carry me!" He needs 16 oz every day of water. I have to put hay or grass that he eats, three times a day. Plus I have to change his bedding once a week. Even though he gives me a hard time in my life, I still love him and consider him as a part of my family.

Thanksgiving Mayflower

What is the Mayflower

Well, what do you think the Mayflower was? It was a ship that led pilgrims all the way from England to Cape Cod, Massachusetts. On their journey there were many negative and positive things that happened. People got sick and died from illnesses, some people starved to death, and during a very bad storm, one of the beams cracked causing a discussion of turning back. Something amazing that happened was, a baby named, Oceanus Hopkins, was born on the voyage. Another example of a positive thing that happenend was when the pilgrims finally saw that they had reached Cape, Cod Massachusetts. So basically, the mayflower was a very important piece of wood that led people to success.


What Did the Mayflower Include?
 
     There were many parts to the Mayflower. There were three floors to the ship. An upperdeck, a gun deck, and the cargo hold. Those were three main parts that made the Mayflower what it was. The upperdeck was the place where everyone would really stay and watch. That was where you had to do your buisness as well. The gun deck is where the cannon were located. On merchant ships, this deck was used to hold additional cargo. In the Mayflower's case, the gun deck is where the passengers lived on the voyage to America. The cargo hold was where the Pilgrims would have stored their cargo of food, tools, and supplies during the voyage. Like I said before, the resources would have gone low and people starved to death.

Climbing

What is Climbing?

 

Climbing is simply the activity of using your hands and feet to achieve a steep obstacle such as a wall, boulder, cliff, building, or mountain. Usually done for enjoyment, fun, and sport, climbing allows you to fully experience the great outdoors by giving you a birds eye view from all the way up top from about 500 feet. Giving  you a way to control a couple of your greatest human fears. That of falling and that of heights. Climbing is a risky sport that requires both skill and nervousness for success. Climbing will also help you build your endurance and strength by using all of your muscles and making them work.

My Opinion on This?

I would do it if you had equipment. From my point of view, I think this is one of the most dangerous things to do in the world. Just to make it clear, there is no equipment. It is only you yourself and you. This is actually not only a good idea. It is like commiting suicide. People only do this for fame and money. They risk their lives for it. No one is ever meant to do it.  Once there was a man and he set a world record for climbing the three highest buldings in the world.

The Chinese Water Torture Cell

  What is the Chinese Water Torture?

This is the part that is covering the face. 

Chinese Water torture, is when a person is locked up on to a flat surface where the person trying it out cannot move. Then cold water is slowly dripped one drop at a time (usually 1 drop every 6-14 seconds). It eventually drives the person crazy because they are waiting for the drop each time. Plus they can't use their hands to wipe off the water or warm up their face from the cold water. There are locks tied around their hands, feet, and one on the perimeter on the face so the people would not allowed to move their faces from the ice cold water. so even if they try to move it won't make any difference. Just for a fact, a magician/stuntman named Harry Houdini had actually escaped this torturous stunt, but nobody knows how.

My Opinion on this Stunt

 First of all no and second of all no. Trust me. This is too insane. I have seen how people react to this and they feel like they have had the worst headache ever. This water is below freezing, so imagine getting ice cold water on your forehead every six second for five hours straight. I know I wouldn't want to do that. I would die there and then. So, after reading all this information, would you want to try out the Chinese Water Torture? Leave a comment below if you would want to.

BUNGEE JUMPING!!!!

                                                                                         What is Bungee Jumping?
 Bungee jumping is a recreational activity that involves jumping from a high surface while attached to an elastic cord. One end of this elastic cord is attached to the jumper’s body, while the other end is attached to a fixed object at the jumping point. Typically, bungee jumping involves leaping from jumping points that are several hundred feet or more high. The elastic cord used in this activity is designed to stretch during the jumper's fall and snap back up repeatedly. This causes the jumper to bounce up and down over the length of the jumping area until the energy from the jump has decreased. So basically, the shorter definition is when you tie your self to a bridge or something like that. It should be about couple hundred feet or some sort of body of water. The make sure you are secure and jump with the rope or elastic cord tied to your feet.

 First of all, I do not think this is a good idea if you are 18 and younger and 64+.  I know I won't do this in my entire life because it is one of the most dangerous thing to do. What if the rope breaks? Then what are you going to do. I know I would want my life to end there and then.  In the case of the actual activity, it's putting your faith in  a flimsy piece of elastic. Just to say something, it is a very rare chance that your rope will break. Accidents only happen because the elastic cord is probably not securely secured.  A cool fact about this extreme sport is that less than a hundred people have died by doing bungee jumping since 1979 to 2009. So, if you read all this information word for word, would you want to bungee jump?...

SPACE JUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  This has been the most insane jump according to man-kind. He  ascended to an altitude of 120,000 feet (36,000 meters) in a six-foot diameter (1.8 meters). He flew up in a a  million-cubic-foot helium balloon hoisted a 3,000-pound capsule.  The drop was also 24 miles down so it would take a lot toughness for someone who has been working 5 years to beat the jump record that was set 52 years ago. Man! That must be a risky guy because I bet I would throw up for a constant 5 min if I fell from a hundred ft. According to the picture on the left, you can see that he was really high, because you can see the whole shape of Earth. I only have one question that made me curious. If he went through the zones in our atmosphere, how come this dare devil didn't burn up, like comets and meteors do? (facts from space.com)

       My Opinion on this Stunt

         I think this is a great way for people to take risks. I bet Felix did this stunt for himself and the people. He wanted to show that anything can be done, even jumping from space. I know I will be doing a lot more things that are risky. For example,today 10/17/12 I got suspended from the bus for two day because I pushed someone of the seat. But I will be doing things that are good. Anyway, since this dare devil has done this, in about like thirty years, you will see how someone tries jumping from the moon or something like that. I wonder if Felix Baumgartner got really nervous when he saw the view when he opened the door to the balloon. I bet I would faint. So, if got what I said, you can do anything if a guy jumped from space.

Stoppie

                                                                                     What is a Stoppie
  The short definition is basically the opposite of a wheelie. Stoppies are kind of a dangerous trick. It is when you stop on the front wheel, weight forward, and being the rear wheel off the ground to a balance position. The reason why it is SO dangerous is because if the bike stops faster than you think that it will, you may flip over the handlebars. And the bike may also land on you. So if you are going to try this trick be really careful. I recommend only do this only if your 18+ unless you are some sort of dare devil and are born with a crazy spirit.

    How To Do a Stoppie

     Keep your body centered over the bike. The most important aspect of pulling off a safe stoppie. You must first get your body dead-center over the middle of the bike with your head straight, shoulders squared and arms stiff. Having your body off center is what's going to cause the back end to kick out once you get the back wheel up. And if you dont do that... The simple way of saying it is you're going to die. But the descriptive way is, You are probably going to slip, fall flat on your back, and you might get paralyzed because the road hit your spinal cord.

WHEELIES

Wheelies are a big part of the motorcycling experience. Many people do this with there motorcycles because it is one of the easiest tricks to learn with a motorcycle.


WHAT IS A WHEELIE?
   A maneuver in which a bicycle, motorcycle, or car has its front wheel or wheels momentarily lifted off the ground.(found from dictionary .com) That might be the definition of a wheelie, but that is not the only thing a wheelie is. It is a stunt that passions people because it is extreme and people like extreme. Also, not only do we like it, but the stunt performers love it too, even more than us. They do it because they want to make us happy and show off. Mostly, the trick they will start out with is probably the wheelie. They just love it because, when they do it all these people cheer for them which raises their confidence, and passion for the wheelie.

WHAT IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG?

       Well............... The first thing you can do is press the brakes immediately so your motorcycle will go forward. You might still be hurt a little but it won't be as bad as a real accident. You might just get a little bruise on your thy and that's all. But a really accident can put you in a hospital for 4-6 months or it could kill you. So if your under the age of 18 don't try it. And if you are over 18 and not experienced, don't try it. I mean wheelies are only for like professionals so don't try them at home. PLEASE!! So that is basically what is going to happen to you if you try a wheelie without being unsupervised.

What is hacking
     Hacking in terms of (jail breaking) is amazing. First of all, hacking is not only meant for Apple devices, you can hack on Android, T-Mobile, Samsung and much, much more. Many people hack there devices so it's not like, "oh i just robbed a bank!" But what hacking really is, is taking your device and making it super. And if you don't know how to hack just go on the internet.

  Illegal and Legal

   Now, now don't get scared. Hacking is not illegal as what from the story I heard. The only thing that is really illegal is Installous. That is like the "hacked" App store. So you can get every app you want for free. So there's no need to be afraid especially if your the goody-goody type. Everyone hacks so do it and you won't regret it.
